An illustration created as an entry for the MTU Christmas Card Competition. The Christmas tree is formed from cats representing different professions, symbolising the diversity of disciplines and paths available at MTU.
An open competition for students across MTU Crawford College of Art and Design and the Department of Creative Media in Kerry. The brief asked for a design reflecting the university's inclusive and diverse community, appealing to students, staff, and international stakeholders. Any medium was welcome, from illustration and photography to print, mixed media, and digital art.
The idea of a Christmas tree made entirely of cats, each one representing a different profession or discipline, felt like a natural fit. The image works as a seasonal card but also as a quiet nod to the range of people and paths that MTU brings together.
I started with rough sketches in Sketchbook to work out the composition, then moved into Adobe Illustrator for the vector linework and Photoshop for colour, texture, and finishing. Final layout and export was handled in Canva.
